Privacy and cookies

This page explains what personal information Victoria Education Consultancy holds, why, and what your rights are. In short: this website does not use cookies or tracking, and we only hold the information you choose to send us.

Who we are

Victoria Education Consultancy is run by Shelley Victoria Smith, who is responsible for your personal information under UK data protection law.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, please email shelley@victoriaeducationconsultancy.com.

Visiting this website

This website has no forms, accounts, analytics, advertising or social media plug-ins, and it does not use cookies. You can read every page without telling us who you are.

Like almost every website, the service that hosts it keeps short-term technical records of each visit, such as the IP address, browser type, and the page and time requested. These records are used only to deliver the website and keep it secure.

The fonts, images and videos come from this website itself, so your browser does not contact any other company while you read it.

When you contact us

If you email Shelley or message her on WhatsApp or WeChat, she receives your name, your contact details and whatever you choose to tell her, which may include information about your child, such as their age, school, interests and any learning support needs.

She uses this information to reply to you and, if you decide to work together, to provide her advice. This is necessary to answer your request and to carry out any agreement you make with her.

Information about a child’s health or learning needs is used only with your explicit consent, and only to find schools that can give the right support. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

With your agreement, relevant details are shared with the schools you apply to. Your information is never sold, and it is not used for marketing.

Records such as invoices are kept because the law requires it.

WhatsApp and WeChat

WhatsApp is run by Meta and WeChat by Tencent. If you contact Shelley through either app, that company also processes your messages under its own privacy policy and may store them outside the UK. If you would rather not use them, please email instead.

The WhatsApp button simply opens WhatsApp, and the WeChat QR code is an ordinary image: nothing is shared with either company unless you choose to use their app.

How long we keep information

Enquiries that do not lead to working together are deleted within 12 months. If we work together, records are kept for six years after the work ends, for tax and legal reasons, and then securely deleted.

Where information is kept

Emails are stored by our email provider, whose servers may be outside the UK. Whenever information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards that UK data protection law requires.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask for it to be corrected, deleted or sent to someone else, ask us to limit or stop using it, and withdraw your consent at any time.

To make a request, email shelley@victoriaeducationconsultancy.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies and does not use any tracking technology, such as analytics scripts, pixels or device fingerprinting. That is why it does not show a cookie banner.

Links to other websites, such as WhatsApp, take you to sites that have their own cookie and privacy policies.

If we ever want to use cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.

Your language choice is stored only in this browser’s localStorage; it is not a cookie and is not sent to this website.

Children

This website is for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
